Who We Are

Are you dying to know a little bit about our instructional staff? Well, here you go! Below you will see a brief bio on a few of our coaches and how they have become so awesome! Enjoy!

Grand Master Edmondson/Coach Joe has been in martial arts since the early age of 4. He received his 7th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do earlier this year receiving the title of Grand Master. In addition to that,  he has his 1st degree Black Belt in Hapkido, the Korean art of Self Defense. Master Edmondson has competed in Olympic Tae Kwon Do and medaled at 4 National Championships and won another 9 World Champions in Full Contact/Point Fighting. Not only has he produced at the highest levels himself, but he has coached many Jr. Olympic National Champions as well as hundreds of State Champions. He retired from competition in 2003 after having a severe injury to his back. It was then that he began training in Krav Maga, where he currently resides on the Board of Directors for Alpha Krav Maga International. As much as Grand Master Edmondson loves training, his true passion is teaching others to be the best they can be. You will often see him training side-by-side with you, so make sure you say “Hi.”

Grand Master George Bell has been involved in martial arts since he was a young boy. He has not only owned and operated many schools in the Southwest but was a member of the Olympic Training Center team for Olympic Tae Kwon Do. Grandmaster Bell has won several National Championships, has been featured on ESPN2, and has trained/coached several Olympic hopeful athletes. He currently holds an 8th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido, as well as a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Coach Roy has been training in the martial art of Muay Thai Kickboxing for over 10 years. He brings high energy to the kids classes he teaches and his desire to help those around him grow to make him a great asset to our program.

Coaches Isaiah, Rob, Larry, Jenn, and Ashley have been training with us for quite some time. From business owners to school teachers, each has found their love and passion for Krav Maga and call our school their home. Whether it’s working with our little kids or teaching advanced techniques to our big kids (adults), they enjoy every minute of their experiences with our students. Come to see for yourself what makes our teaching staff so special.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO TRAIN WITH US. I HOPE YOU WILL CONSIDER JOINING OUR FAMILY.

SINCERELY,

WHY CHOOSE US

No matter what your goals are, we can help you achieve them through our dynamic martial arts training.

Here are some examples of how the martial arts, and the styles that we teach in-particular,

can help you or your child succeed at reaching your goals and thrive.

“Grades don’t measure intelligence and age doesn’t define maturity.
                                  – Dr. Eric Knost

Confidence

Confidence Is simply feeling more comfortable in a given situation or activity. Our program teaches both children and adults how to feel more confident in their ability to defend themselves and their loved ones by utilizing the most realistic self-defense techniques. Give yourself or your child the gift of confidence by joining our program today.

Discipline

The definition of discipline is to make the right decision at the right time. Given multiple choices, it is not always easy to make those decisions. With children especially, it takes practice on a daily basis to know which decision will get the best result. Our program will teach them how/when to use what they learn in class effectively.

Perseverance

Perseverance is simply pushing through a chore or activity, even when it gets hard. Teaching perseverance is not easy. It comes over time and lots and lots of discussion, hard work, and effort. Your body and mind get stronger with each class, taking more to push you to your limit. The more you train, the better you become.

Respect

Respect is earned, not given. Teaching children and adults alike how to show respect is no easy task. Just like anything else in martial arts, it takes practice to become second nature. Unless you were raised in a strict household, respect for others does not come naturally. You would think otherwise, but that’s not the case. This is one of the most important things we teach in the martial arts. Learning to treat others as you would like to be treated is one of life’s great lessons.

Focus

This is probably the biggest reason parents enroll their children in our program. With each and every class, learning to focus on an activity and not getting distracted means your child is growing into the person you envision them to be. Having lots of energy is not a bad thing, we just need to learn how/where to channel that energy. We have exceptional instructors that are pros at helping your child grow in this area.

Strength/Fitness

When people think about strength, they usually envision someone very strong. Strength comes in many shapes and forms. It can be physical, as well as mental. Having the strength to stand up for what you believe in. Standing up to bullies, peer pressure, social media standards and such are not as easy today as it was when I was a kid. It takes time to develop these muscles, just like those on your body. We help you get strong, both physically and mentally.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING AT IT’S BEST!

In today’s world, leadership skills are crucial tools for success at home, in the community, at school, and in the workplace. Our Leadership Program helps to develop leadership skills, gives students the opportunity to take on leadership roles in class, and builds self-confidence among children and adults.

Students in the Leadership Program focus extensively on Life Skills such as knowledge, humility, vision, discipline, passion, and empathy. Class discussions help students to understand the meaning of these life skills and how they apply at home, at school, and in their communities.

The Leadership Program also offers students advanced training in weapons and self-defense.

Additionally, the Leadership Program includes our 1-hour monthly Leadership Team training with Grand Master Joseph Edmondson.

Little Ninjas Leadership Program (ages 3-6)

Our Little Ninjas Leadership Program gives students enhanced responsibility in class and teaches them to be positive role models both at the studio and at school. Students explore the behaviors that exemplify good leadership and develop confidence and public speaking skills by giving oral reports on life skills related to leadership. They learn to set an example for others in the class and be the best version of themselves. Additionally, they work with weapons such as bo staff, nunchaku, escrima sticks.

Krav Kids Leadership Program (ages 7-10)

Our Krav Kids Leadership Program gives students enhanced responsibility in class and teaches them to be positive role models both at the studio and at school. Students explore the behaviors that exemplify good leadership and develop confidence and public speaking skills by giving oral reports on life skills related to leadership. They learn to set an example for others in the class, to help mentor junior-ranked students, and to take on a variety of leadership roles at the studio. Additionally, they work with weapons such as the bo staff, nunchaku, and escrima sticks.

Krav Kids/Teens Leadership Program (ages 11-14)

Our Leadership Program for Kids/Teens emphasizes advanced self-defense and weapons skills. We supplement traditional training with instruction in ground fighting, boxing, pressure points, joint manipulation, and other practical self-defense approaches. We also train with weapons like the Bo Staff, Nunchaku, and Escrima Sticks. Additionally, students in the Adult Leadership Program develop leadership skills that are useful in school and in the workplace, and they have the opportunity to become internationally-certified instructors/coaches.

Leadership Program membership includes the following:

  • The traditional Taekwondo/Krav Maga curriculum covered in the Basic Program.
  • Monthly Leadership training class.
  • Weapons training (Bo Staff, Nunchaku, Escrima Sticks, Kali).
  • Advanced Self-Defense instruction (e.g., ground fighting, joint manipulation, pressure points).
  • Black Belt Club patch is worn on the left sleeve of the uniform.
  • Leadership Program patch is worn on the right sleeve of the uniform.

Now I know this sounds fantastic, but understand that there is a high commitment level involved in our training requiring regular class attendance, homework assignments, reading assignments and home practice. This is why we have you participate in the trial program before deciding if a student is a good fit for our Leadership Team. These things, along with Top-Level coaching, are what separates our studio from the plethora of martial arts studios in the valley. We know you will LOVE the training your child receives from us and we thank you for the opportunity to assist in their growth and development.
